My family and I decided to visit the volcano ruins, were the village was excavated in the last eruption around 60 years ago. A little disappointed, because there wasn't a lot to see, although the horseback riding around the place and the return was fun for the kids. They enjoyed it more than the ruins.

We learned about this place from a Mexican friend. We arrived at the town of Paricutín, a place of very humble and hardworking people, there we rented horses and headed to a viewpoint of the volcano, spectacular. Then we continued to the ruins of the church immersed in the lava, something incredible. The place is unique and you have to visit it.

It is an incredible place, the volcano still release immense energy, the only advice I have is to avoid arriving too early since the people of the place aren’t very early, we made the mistake of arriving before dawn on the part of "Viejo San Juan" and we had to wait until 11am for someone to arrive. I guess it's different during the holidays.
